01Our commitment
InsuranceBorder.com is committed to making the quote request, agent directory, and Agent Partner Portal usable by everyone, including people who rely on screen readers, keyboard navigation, voice control, magnification, or other assistive technology.
Insurance is something everyone needs. A person should be able to request a quote, review the agent they are matched with, and manage their request without being blocked by how the site is built.
02Standard we work to
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities and are the standard referenced by most accessibility laws, including the Americans with Disabilities Act as applied to websites and Section 508.
Conformance is assessed against the public site, the quote request flow, and the Partner Portal. Third-party content embedded on the site is covered in the section below.
03What we do
Accessibility is part of how we design and build, not a review at the end. In practice this means:
- Every page uses semantic landmarks (header, navigation, main, footer) and a logical heading order so screen reader users can move around quickly.
- All interactive controls are reachable and operable with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus indicator, and no functionality depends on hover or a pointing device.
- Form fields in the quote request and Partner Portal have programmatically associated labels, and validation errors are announced and linked to the field they refer to.
- Text and interface elements meet WCAG contrast minimums in both the light and dark color schemes, and the site respects your operating system preference for reduced motion.
- Images that convey information have text alternatives; decorative images are hidden from assistive technology.
- Layouts reflow to a single column on small screens and at 400 percent zoom without horizontal scrolling or loss of content.
- Status messages, such as a quote request being submitted or an agent accepting a lead, are announced to screen readers without moving focus.
04How we test
New features are checked against WCAG 2.2 AA before release using a combination of automated tooling and manual review. Manual testing includes keyboard-only navigation and screen reader passes with VoiceOver on macOS and iOS and NVDA on Windows.
We periodically review high-traffic paths, including the quote request form, the agent directory, and Partner Portal sign-in and lead management, and we re-test any page where an issue has been reported.
05Known limitations
We are transparent about where the site does not yet fully meet our standard. As of the effective date of this statement:
- Some charts on the operations dashboard convey trends visually; a full data table equivalent is being added for each chart.
- Downloadable documents an agent attaches to a lead are not checked for accessibility before they are shared. We ask agents to use accessible formats, but cannot guarantee it.
- Map views in the agent directory are supplemented by a list view, which is the accessible alternative until the map itself exposes equivalent information to assistive technology.
06Third-party content
Some functionality, such as address suggestions or embedded documents from a carrier, is provided by third parties. We choose vendors with accessibility in mind and pass on issues we find, but we do not control their code and cannot guarantee their conformance.
Agents in the directory operate their own websites and communications. This statement covers InsuranceBorder.com and the Partner Portal only.
07Getting help another way
If any part of the site is difficult for you to use, you do not have to work around it. Contact us and we will take your quote request over the phone or email, read you the details of the agent you were matched with, or help you complete any other task on the site.
Agents who need an accommodation in the Partner Portal, such as an alternative to a visual workflow, can request one through operations at ops@insuranceborder.com.
08Feedback and reporting a barrier
We welcome feedback on the accessibility of InsuranceBorder.com. If you encounter a barrier, please tell us which page you were on, what you were trying to do, and the browser and assistive technology you were using, if any.
Email accessibility@insuranceborder.com. We aim to acknowledge reports within two business days and to fix or provide a workaround for confirmed barriers as a priority over other work.
09Review of this statement
This statement is reviewed at least annually and whenever a significant change is made to the site. The effective date and version above reflect the most recent review.
